For the first time, the Product Lifetimes and the Environment (PLATE) conference took a virtual format this year (26-28 May). The event was organised over three half-days and brought together a wide range of disciplines, including design, engineering, marketing, environmental science, economics, law, social and behavioural sciences and policymaking with the common touch-point of the product lifetime at the centre of all conversations. PROMPT participated in the conference through numerous papers and presentations such as:
- Consumers’ experiences with premature obsolescence – Insights from seven EU countries (Test Achats)
- Perceived capabilities and barriers for do-it-yourself repair (TUD)
- A poorly educated guess: consumers’ lifetime estimations, attitudes towards repairability, and a product lifetime label (TUD)
